NSWV Mercurius (Nijmeegse Studenten Wielervereniging or Nijmegen Student Cycling Association) is a group of more than 170 enthusiastic, fun and social students with one shared passion: Cycling. At our association both Road cycling and Mountainbiking is offered. Both disciplines are offered at all levels, from beginners to racing cyclists.
During the whole study year Mercurius organises; training, activities, drinks, club competitions, cycling weekends and holidays. Twice a year weekends are organised in locations such as the Ardennes and the German Eifel, and in the summer a week to an area further away is often on the calendar. Through these you can also test your legs out of the region of Nijmegen
Alongside, our association organises it’s own yearly Randonnée; called Via Romana. Also we help with the organising of other sportsevents in the regions, such as the Omloop der Zevenheuvelen.
Training
Mercurius has training every week apart from in the holiday periods. The road training takes place on the Monday and Thursday. The Mountainbike training takes place on a Tuesday. In the winter we also go to the Sports centre for Strength training and also Spin training. More information about this in ‘Training starting times’, which change in the autumn and spring, due to the amount of light.

On monday, tuesday and thursday, we gather in the car park next to the Radboud Sport Centre (Parkeerplaats p7a). During the trainings we adhere to the “Handvest veilig fietsen“; our charter for safe cycling.
Activities and Drinks
Next to cycling there is more to do with Mercurius. Every second wednesday of the month there is a ‘Borrel’ or drinks in Tappers. In addition a big activity is organised every month, such as bowling, paint ball, diner rouler, and so much more. These activities and the drinks are the place to get to know your cycling friends better away from the bike!
Weekends and Summer trip
Each year there are varioud trips outside of the Netherlands. In september there is a cycling weekend in the Ardennes, a Citytrip often in the winter, the training weekend in March, and with ascenion day, a four day weekened. During the summer holiday there is a weeks holiday which is generally organised in the week after the ‘Vierdaagse’.
Racing
Beside the trainng there are also sufficient possibilities to test your condition against other student cyclists in the Netherlands. Mercurius is connected to the SWN (Studenten Wielrennen Nederland), who make student racing possible with a low entry level. Every member from the association can participate in these competitions (without a licence). For more information about riding in races, you can ask our Sportcommissaris.
Association car
For the organising of activities, trips and the riding of races, N.S.W.V mercurius has it’s own car. The association car gives the possibility to participate in races across the whole of the Netherlands. Besides this, every member of Mercurius can hire the car. You can for example hire it for weekends and holidays. Members can reserve the car by logging in to the website.
